BBC Pacific Quay
Client: BBC Scotland
Project: BBC Scotland Headquarters, Pacific Quay, Glasgow
Architect/Interior Designer: David Chipperfield / Graven Images
Ben Dawson was commissioned to develop and manufacture bespoke furniture for the new BBC Scotland Headquarters in Glasgow which was designed by leading international architect David Chipperfield with interiors and furniture by Graven Images.
Native Scottish Oak was gathered from woodlands across Scotland and carefully dried and conditioned in our workshops to achieve optimum stability. Sourcing the timber locally met the strict environmental standards of the project as well as satisfying the designers’ wish to represent elements of the Scottish landscape within the building. In a romantic twist to the search for Scottish oak some of the timber we found was felled at Abottsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott near Melrose in the Scottish Borders.
